The Old Bed Bath & Beyond on Lane Avenue Is Becoming Several Places at Once

October 8, 2026

The biggest change on West Lane Avenue in 2026 is happening inside a single building. The former Bed Bath & Beyond at The Shops on Lane Avenue closed in 2023, after the retailer went bankrupt. Since then the space has been used for temporary tenants, including a Spirit Halloween. Now it is being divided so several permanent businesses can move in.

The tenants announced for that space have something in common. A household store was the kind of place you visited for a specific errand now and then. The replacements are a restaurant, a wellness center, and a fitness studio, and their business model depends on people coming back often. A few doors east, a new coffee shop and a matcha window opened this summer and run on the same model. Taken together, the street is moving toward the occasional big trip less and toward frequent short visits more. Most of the new names don't have opening dates yet.

One anchor space, divided

Columbus Business First reported in August that the former Bed Bath & Beyond space is being split to fit several tenants, according to WhatNow Columbus's summary of that report. The names it listed were Piccolo Buco, Pause, and Solidcore. Kimco Realty's leasing map for the center shows the space sizes.

Tenant Concept Listed size Status as of early October 2026
Piccolo Buco Rome-inspired pizza restaurant from Cooper's Hawk 7,629 sq ft Announced; early planning, no opening timeline as of July
Pause Wellness center 3,242 sq ft Listed as coming soon
Fitness studio Reported as Solidcore; Kimco's map lists Barry's 3,838 sq ft No opening date announced

Piccolo Buco is the largest of the three. 614NOW reported in July that this is the concept's first Ohio location and that planning was at a very early stage, with no opening timeline. Coverage since then has described the space as still being renovated for its permanent tenants, and nobody has named an opening month.

Sources disagree about which fitness brand is coming. WhatNow's August 27 story, based on the Business First report, names Solidcore, a resistance-based, high-intensity, low-impact class format. WhatNow says it asked Solidcore about timing and hadn't heard back when the story ran. Kimco's current tenant map lists Barry's in that part of the redevelopment and marks the space occupied. We haven't found a public explanation for the difference. A boutique fitness studio is coming, and the brand will be clear once signs go up.

The rest of the center is moving the same way

The changes go beyond that one building. The center's website lists CAVA as coming soon at 1603 W. Lane Ave. It lists goGLOW, a spray tan salon, as coming soon at 1727 W. Lane Ave. Warby Parker is now listed as open at 1665 W. Lane Ave., although the center hasn't published the date it opened.

Most of these are services you would use more than once a season: a fast-casual meal, a spray tan appointment, a fitting for new glasses. WhatNow described the center as expanding its mix of "retail, dining, wellness and fitness offerings." That fairly sums up where the tenant list is heading.

The one large retail store, and its wedding shop

The biggest retail addition is also the one with the firmest date. Anthropologie is putting a store of roughly 9,000 square feet at 1705 W. Lane Ave., and Columbus Underground reported in September that the sign out front says "Opening Spring 2027."

The Upper Arlington store will include Anthropologie Weddings, the brand's bridal line, which launched in 2011. The Easton location at 4235 The Strand doesn't carry wedding apparel, so Lane Avenue will be the only Columbus store that does. It will be the brand's second Columbus store. A Short North location inside The Joseph at 625 N. High St. closed in early 2025. The new store is a destination store, and a bridal department means repeat appointments for fittings, which fits the pattern of the other new tenants.

East of the center, the daytime crowd already arrived

You can already see what this tenant mix looks like a few blocks east, where two businesses opened this summer.

Fox in the Snow opened its seventh location on July 11, 2026, at 1510 W. Lane Ave. It replaced the bike shop roll, which closed in 2024. When it opened, posted hours were 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends. The first 300 people in line got free t-shirts. It was the chain's second opening of the year, after Clintonville, so Lane Avenue now has the same coffee-and-bakery stop that Italian Village, German Village, New Albany, Dublin, and Westerville already had.

A month before that, Milky Way Matcha Bar opened its second walk-up window on June 13 at Fukuryu Ramen, 1600 W. Lane Ave. One building now serves a sit-down ramen dinner and a quick matcha order.

Neither business runs the long dinner hours the old corridor was known for. Fox in the Snow's posted hours end at 3 p.m. Their opening day crowds suggest the corridor can support daytime traffic. Fox in the Snow said on Instagram that it was grateful for "how excited this community has been to see us open on Lane Ave."

Over on Tremont, the same handoff with an evening tenant

A similar change is underway on the Kingsdale side of town. Houlihan's closed its Upper Arlington restaurant on January 1, 2026, according to Columbus Business First.

The replacement is a local restaurant group taking over a chain's former space. Columbus Monthly reported in June that Arlington Grille, a concept from Rick Doody's NCR Ventures, plans to open in late 2026 at 3150 Tremont Road. The same group opened Bar Italia at Easton in 2025, which Columbus Monthly named a Best New Restaurant of 2026, and Doody is a part owner of Lindey's in German Village. At the time of the announcement, the plan still needed city approvals. We haven't found an update since June, so late 2026 is a target, not a confirmed date.

Arlington Grille is the only project in this group aimed at dinner. While Lane Avenue adds morning and midday businesses, the Tremont side could get its evening restaurant back before the year ends.

Dates that are confirmed this fall

Most Lane Avenue openings still have no date. The city's own calendar through December is set:

  • Thursday, October 8, 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Jazz at the Barn at Amelita Mirolo Barn, 4395 Carriage Hill Lane, with Ron Holmes – Eclecticism.
  • Thursday, October 29, 6 to 8 p.m.: Beggar's Night and Pumpkin Patrol citywide. The city says it goes on rain or shine, with no alternate date.
  • November 13 through December 11: Santa's Mailbox at the Bob Crane Community Center.
  • Saturday, November 14, 6 to 10 p.m.: Navratri & Diwali Celebration at the Bob Crane Community Center, 3200 Tremont Road. Tickets are $15, and children five and under get in free.
  • Friday, December 4, 6 to 8:30 p.m.: Winter Festival and tree lighting at Mallway Park, 2096 Arlington Avenue, with Santa, a bonfire with s'mores, and ice-sculpting demonstrations.

The Shops on Lane Avenue's events page currently has no fall or holiday events posted. For now, the city's calendar is where the season's dates are. Between now and spring, the next confirmed date on Lane Avenue itself is Anthropologie's spring 2027 opening.

We keep track of Lane Avenue and Tremont Road because the businesses there shape daily life in our home neighborhood, and we post updates on Upper Arlington as signs go up and dates get set.
